Attractions

Lake Sinclair also is among Georgia's most popular boating areas. Georgia Power provides two boat ramps for public access to water recreation. A favorite area for fishermen at all skill levels, Lake Sinclair is the site of national fishing tournaments as well as smaller local ones. Visitors find fall and winter fishing at Lake Sinclair a special treat. Georgia Power also provides an outstanding tailrace fishing area below the dam near Milledgeville.

The lake's newest recreation area is Rocky Creek Park, a day-use facility that includes picnic tables, grills, boat ramp and a small beach. There are no camping areas available at this facility.

Rocky Creek Park

Located on the southeast side of the lake in Baldwin County near Sinclair Dam, this park provides popular day-use access to Lake Sinclair. Facilities at the park include a pavilion with restrooms and vending machines, picnic tables, grills, fishing pier, swimming beach, playground, and a boat ramp. This park is open to the public each year from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Cheek Recreation Area

This access area is located directly across from Plant Branch on Highway 441. It is designed for bank fishermen with facilities including a large fishing pier, shoreline enhanced with fish attracting structures, and a parking lot.

Cosby's Landing

Cosby's Landing is another access area that is ideal for fishermen. Located in a quiet cove on the Island Creek branch of Lake Sinclair, this park has facilities including a boat ramp, fishing pier, and parking lot. Cosby's Landing is easily accessible from Carrs Station Road on the southeastern portion of the lake.

Sinclair and Wallace Tailraces

Below the Wallace and Sinclair Dams are popular fishing areas. The Sinclair tailrace area is immediately downstream of the Sinclair Dam and Powerhouse and has a fishing platform with handicap access and safety railing. This area is accessible from Sinclair Dam Road on the west side of the river. On the northern stretches of Lake Sinclair where the Oconee River flows from the Wallace Dam, is the Oconee Tailrace. This fishing pier and recreation area is easily accessible from Georgia Highway 16 in Putnam County.
